Chi Alpha (XA) is a community of Portland area American and international students and friends earnestly following Jesus. Our gatherings are informal, given to humor & friendship, and deal with everything from relationships to the nature of truth. We are affiliated with Chi Alpha Campus Ministries, which is sponsored by the Assemblies of God, and we welcome students from all backgrounds-- in Portland our students are connected to diverse faith communities such as Imago Dei, Mosaic, Red Sea Church, City Bible, Portland Christian Center, Neighborhood Church, Christ Community Church and others. If you’re still confused, try this: we’re a group of Christians associated with Portland State University who meet once a week to learn more about following Jesus.

Chi Alpha Main Community Gathering: Wednesday nights, 8PM at "1748", our primary campus community house located off Hawthorne at SE 12th and Mill, just across the Hawthorne Bridge from downtown Portland on bus #10, #14 or #4. Email Vic for exact directions or more information.

Our 2007-2008 Theme, "God, in His Own Words": Wednesday nights we're searching the Bible for passages where God speaks in the first person, or for narratives where he interacts first person withothers. From those we do an open, honest discussion to see what God says about himself, his character, and relationships with us, and us with each other. Fall term focuses on selections staring in Genesis 1, Winter term we're looking at God as Messiah in Isaiah, and Spring term at the sayings, teaching and interactions with Jesus.

What to Expect: We meet in a cozy house setting with lots of coffee, tea and treats. The group consists of undergrad & graduate students, plus some graduates that live in the neighborhood. The average age at the moment is 25. We'll start with a bit of small talk as the group gathers, then have a bit of acoustic guitar group singing & prayer, followed by a discussion facilitated by different group members each week. Afterwards, we hang out a bit laughing and talking. Someone is always available to pray specifically for your concerns if you wish. We'll find you a ride home if you need one too.

Women's Coffee Hour Fridays at 4PM, Starbucks at "The Vue": Kathy meets at PSU with a women from campus over coffee just to talk, check-in, and share what's happening in lives. Email Kathy for the more info or location directions.

Hey-- You can meet us for Coffee Anytime! Send us an email if you'd like to meet our staff on campus for coffee.
